It is generally known that in connection with the reductions of expenditure recently made by the Government, several members of the police force have been discharged. There, have been statements made to the effect that the men in discharged have been harshly used. The Commissioner of Police (Captain Phillips) has supplied us with a list of the men whose services have been dispens- ed, with, together with the gratuities they receive for long service and good conduct on leaving the force :
